• ANNEX 1: CONDITIONS FOR THE CERTIFICATION OF VEGETABLE SEED CROP

  •  Isolation

•  ANNEX 2: CONDITIONS TO BE SATISFIED BY THE SEED

  • Quality conditions to be satisfied by vegetable seed

  • Conditions in respect of the health status of vegetable seed

• ANNEX 3: SEED LOTS

  • Maximum weight of a seed lot and minimum sample of seed for quality analysis

• ANNEX 4: LABELS AND CERTIFICATE FOR SEED LOTS

  • official label for seed of a generation prior to basic seed, basic seed and certified seed (other than EC small packages) 

  • supplier's label or inscription on the package for standard seed and EC small packages of the category 'certified seed'

  • label and certificate of official certification of a crop for seed not finally certified, harvested in another country

The Rules regulate:

• species of vegetables;

• categories of vegetable seed;

• conditions as regards the marketing of vegetable seed of a generation prior to basic seed and of vegetable seed not finally certified;

• the exemption with regard to germination of vegetable seed of a generation prior to basic seed and of basic seed;

• requirements concerning a variety (national variety list);

• the procedure for official certification of vegetable seed:

  • conditions and requirements to be satisfied in relation to the production of seed;

  • conditions and requirements to be satisfied when preparing seed for marketing;

  • requirements as regards packaging, sealing and marking, sealing and marking under official supervision;

• obligations of suppliers of vegetable seed of category 'standard seed';

• additional conditions and requirements in respect of the marketing of vegetable seed intended for organic production;

• the procedure for post-control of vegetable seed;  

• other conditions for the marketing of vegetable seed.

The Rules reflect the content of provisions of:

• Council Directive 2002/55/EC of 13 June 2002 on the marketing of vegetable seed (OJ L No 193 of 20.7.2002), as last amended by Commission Directive 2009/74/EC; 

• Commission DirectivE 89/14/EEC of 15 December 1988 determining the groups of varieties of spinach beet and beetroot referred to crop isolation conditions of Annex I to Council Directive 70/458/EEC on the marketing of vegetable seed (OJ L No 8 of 11.1.1989). 

With the date of entry into force of these Rules the following Rules ceased to be valid:

• Rules on the marketing of vegetable seed (OJ RS, No 91/03 and 28/04).
