May bug

The Regulation on preventing of spread and suppression of massive outbreak of common European May bug and the programme for implementing the measures for preventing spread and suppression are the basis for taking measures for the control of May bug in Idrija and Logatec municipalities where the problem of damages resulting from the over-population of May bug has persisted already for several years.

Treatment in the area where the measures for the control of May bug should be introduced due to its over-population until 2006 is concentrated on the municipality of Idrija and encompasses four cadastral municipalities: Zadlog, Idrijski Log, Črni Vrh and Godovič or two local ciommunities: Črni vrh and Godovič. The area spreads into the neighbouring Logatec municipality.

The endangered grassland area where the measures for suppressing May bug are to be taken in 2007 until 2009 will, besides the areas which suffered damage in 2005 and 2006, encompass also new surfaces where monitoring will be carried out of the occurrence and development of May bug and its larvae, and will esult in establishing its over-population.

Taking measures included in the programme (see below) will start in September 2007 and continue at appropriate time in 2008 and 2009.
